{N. Dallas} Runway Revue at Galleria Dallas, August 9

Don’t miss the highly anticipated Runway Revue during Tax Free Weekend at Galleria Dallas! Events this year include: Kids Show (noon), The Trend Show (2 p.m.), The Tax Free Show (4 p.m.) and the hair design show created by Toni & Guy (6 p.m.). All activities are free and will take place on Level 1 of the mall.

Hosted by Galleria Dallas Fashion Stylist Holly Quartaro, Runway Revue showcases fall fashions from many of the center’s more than 200 retailers like H&M, Apricot Lane, Belk, BCBGeneration, and Macy’s. Galleria Dallas packs the day with three professionally produced runway shows highlighting seasonal looks for the whole family. Coupled with Texas Tax-Free Holiday, the weekend makes a perfect opportunity for back-to-school and fall shopping.

After-Hours: Dynamic Duo Series (Angelika, August 1-31)

The Angelika Film Center will continue its Angelika After Hours series on Friday and Saturday nights at 11:30 p.m. “Blues Brothers,” “The Big Lebowski” and “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” are just a few of the cult classics in the queue for August.

Tasting: The Dalmore (Trinity Hall, August 5, 7:30 p.m.)

Expand your palate and savor the delicate flavors, aromas and textures of The Dalmore, a 12-year old Highland whisky from one of the most renowned distilleries in the world. A seat at the tasting costs $25 and includes six pours paired with a variety of light bites.

Join our friend and local blogger, Katey McFarlan, founder of Chronicles of Frivolity, in celebrating the great indoors with an evening of beauty, fashion and philanthropy. Glampers will sip handcrafted cocktails and nosh on s’mores while perusing looks ideal for the urban jungle, handpicked by Katey. A $5 donation to the Girl Scouts is your ticket in the door. Do some good while looking good!

GRO Designs Workshop (West Elm, August 23, 10:45 a.m.)

West Elm has joined forces with the event and floral experts at GRO Designs to offer a tablescape styling workshop. Participants will learn the art of tabletop decor and go home with their own floral arrangements and a bag of goodies. Cost of admission is $200.

Yoga at the Station (CorePower Yoga, August 23, 12 p.m.)

CorePower Yoga is making a splash in Dallas this month to celebrate the opening of its first studio in Dallas. Yogis and Yoginis are invited to attend a free yoga class at CorePower’s new studio. After class, enjoy fresh juice bar samplings from The People’s Last Stand.

Dive-In Movie Night (The Lofts Pool, August 28, 8:30 p.m.)

Mockingbird Station and the Dallas Film Society invite you to join us at The Lofts pool for a free screening of “Wet Hot American Summer.” Although admission is free, pay $5 and receive a drink from Deep Eddy Vodka, popcorn or candy and an inner tube. All proceeds benefit the Dallas Film Society. More details and a link to RSVP will be posted on on the Station’s website next week.

{Denton} Painting with a Twist Now Open

Painting with a Twist is Denton’s newest paint and sip workshop. Located off the Square, this BYOB painting class is fun for all levels, and no experience is required. The store provides all the supplies and always has an entertaining and talented instructor to guide you on your masterpiece.

{Preston Center} Bellacures Grand Opening, August 21

Bellacures nail and beauty salon in Preston Center gears up for its grand opening party on August 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. The first 100 people in line will get a swag bag and free manis, and one lucky person gets free manis for a year! The salon offers an array of luxury services, so get ready to be pampered, ladies!
