The thing about balance is that if you don’t have it, you fall. The twenties is definitely a complex period because we’re learning the balancing act that sets the stage for the rest of our lives.

‘B’ is for ‘Be careful when you think that balance is an end in itself’.

It isn’t. By all means work at getting a balance in your life (and as people suggest it’s often as simple as taking time out to slow down, laugh, chill out - anything that nourishes you), but that balance doesn’t mean much by itself.

Balance is a strategy you can employ on the way somewhere that matters; it’s a strategy you can pull out of the bag that makes it easier and simpler for you get somewhere . It isn’t a destination, it’s a strategy.

I know that I’m not in a state of balance when shaving my legs stops being a priority. I know if I don’t have time to take care of myself, it is only a matter of time until I become so out of balance that I can’t take care of anything else.

I think purpose is more important than balance. If you have purpose, your personal life becomes of secondary importance. I like this blog, it’s very interesting, and I’ve never seen anything like it before. Thx!

I achieve balance by letting my inner child out,laughing out loud, smiling just because I had a silly thought, singing when there’s no music playing,eating a piece of cake after I had a salad covered in organic vegetables,etc. Not always tackling everything on my to do list for the day if that means getting to spend time with someone I care about. I also don’t always dress super girly or tomboyish, ah balance, it’s wonderful.:o)

I agree that leaving work behind after 5 p.m. is a challenge, Erica. It’s even tougher when “hobbies” like blogging become like a second (unpaid) job.

Balance is being able to hold the tree pose in yoga class for more than 4 seconds…
and also taking time for myself and leaving work behind after 5pm.

balance for me is working part time and focusing the rest of the time on growing this baby!

Balance for me is taking time to do something really fun outside the house on the weekends and making sure I go on vacations. I want to enjoy my hard work and money while I am young along side saving and investing for my future.
