Because sometimes other people take the words right out of my head…

  • My Friends Misguided Career Advice Sucks: while I’m not going through what Ashley shares about in her current job hunt I can certainly relate to the “cheer up” advice she is so frustrated about. “But what I need from you now is real advice, some direction. If you cannot do that I kind of need you to stop giving me the worst advice known to man.
  • I’m Turning 30 and I’m Okay With It: I’ve been a fan of Zandria since I started blogging. Last month I turned 28, so the big 3-0 is not to far away for me.
  • Being: I love this post … pure and simple.

A love story with few words

The following video is #2 on Mashable’s 10 Most Innovative Viral Video Ads of 2009. The description on Youtube says “A simple short film about communication.” If I had to use one word to describe this video it would be captivating.

We struggle because we believe the journey is worth it

While a bit deep for a Monday morning, I was very inspired by a guest post I stumbled across today written by Sid Savara, author of Analysis Driven Personal Development. The post, We Have What It Takes, is a tale of dedication and the lessons of struggling and working for something that’s important.

The morale of the post is in the following closing three sentences (but I highly recommend you read the entire post):

We struggle because we believe the journey is worth it.
We struggle because we want to improve ourselves.
We struggle because we know we have what it takes.

If I had to pick one word to describe life as a twenty something I’d certainly choose “journey”. One of my favorite quotes says “Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” The times of struggle we go through are there to help us grow, much like the story of Albert. What do you think?

It’s How You Play the Game

I’m on a Grey’s Anatomy marathon lately. I have the DVD’s and the high drama emotional rollercoaster has been my relaxation lately. Tonight’s episode ended with a great quote from Meredith.

Life is not a spectator sport. Win, lose, or draw, the game is on. So go ahead… argue with the ref, change the rules, cheat a little, take a break and tend to your wounds. But play. Play. Play hard, play fast… play loose and free. Play as if there’s no tomorrow. Okay, so it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game… right?

when was the last time you …

  • ate something you cooked yourself
  • bought something you’ve been wanting for a while
  • called someone just to say hi
  • discovered something new about yourself
  • entertained people in your home
  • felt what it is like to be in someone else’s shoes
  • gave back
  • heard a child laugh
  • indulged
  • just listened to the sounds of silence
  • kissed ’til your lips hurt
  • loved someone so much it hurt
  • mentored someone
  • noticed beauty in the moment
  • opened happy snail mail
  • put your butt on the line for something important
  • questioned the norm
  • read a magazine cover to cover
  • sang a song at the top of your lungs
  • thanked someone
  • unintentionally inspired someone
  • volunteered for a cause that matters to you
  • wrote your name in wet cement
  • xamined the bigger picture
  • yearned for things to be different
  • zealously finished something you started

I heart quotes

Some people like my advice so much that they frame it upon the wall instead of using it.
