I’m embarking on a 12+ hour drive from Texas to Kentucky with the fam so I’m sure my Christmas will be entertaining to say the least. I’m not sure of the internet situation so I thought I’d say a Merry Pink Holiday to all of you.

On my flight today back home from the New Marketing Summit in the Boston area I was browsing through American Way Magazine. An interesting headline caught my attention “Red, White, Blue and Pink.” I knew this must have something to do with breast cancer since it’s October.
The first paragraph of the article:
“I’m guessing that one of the things that leaps to mind when thinking of American Airlines is the distinctive look of our airplanes: the gleaming metal combined with our signature red, white, and blue stripes. We’re proud of our colors, but we’re also proud that a select group of American Airlines and American Eagle aircraft, we added a flash of pink to the mix. Specifically, eight airlines now sport fuselage-length versions of the iconic pink ribbon of Susan G. Komsn for the cure.”
I love it when big companies stand behind causes. And as the daughter of a cancer survivor and the neice of a recently diagnosed breast cancer woman I am an advocate for as much cancer research as we can get.
Things I did not already know that I learned in this article:
- AA has pledge to raise $1 million a year for 8 years for Koman as the first Lifetime Promise Partner.
- The eight planes are notable that 1 out of every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime.
- The 5 year survival rate for women with breast cancer (that’s caught before it spreads) is 98%, up from 74% in 1982.
- During the last quarter century (our lifetime), the amount of money spent by US government on breast cancer research has increased THIRTYfold!

I have a question that I’m hoping someone might know the answer to. What is the copyright rules on reproducing quotes? For example. I found the above quote on someone’s facebook and I decided I liked it. I copied and pasted the quote into my beloved Adobe Illustrator and then made myself a pretty little graphic to put up on my blog. So here’s the question … would I be allowed to sell said little graphic (printed out in a frame perhaps)? Can you just reproduce any quote you feel like as long as you give credit? I see cute little framy things like this all the time at Target. I feel like I need a class on the legalities of graphic design. Perhaps some of you legalites can answer this question for me.

Web sites will Go Pink during the month of October to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, get people talking about breast cancer, and raise money for research.
Since GenPink was already well, ya know Pink I decided that I should make my pink change a little more obvious so I have a whole new theme for October.
This theme is based off of iLoveMusic by Sadish. The header image is an altered iStock illustration, the original can be found here. The headline font is Angelina from my favorite free font website.
]]>I am not sure if I saw this idea somewhere or if it just came to me but I wanted to pass along the bridesmaid gift idea that I had. My college roommate got married this weekend and I was her MOH (Maid of Honor) so I was trying to think of something fun/creative to give her as a gift from the bridesmaids.
She is currently living in England so I knew I wanted it to be something small that she could easily take back with her. After thinking of things we did together and things that were small I came up with the idea to get her an iPod. Since I love the ipod shuffle that I won I thought that she would love one as well. When I went to Target to buy it for the I was pleasently surprised by their current Special Edition Pink Shuffle. We paid the same price as we would for the regular shuffle but it also came with a $15 iTunes gift card.
We ended up spending the night before the wedding hanging out in the hotel room listening to millions of songs (I exaggerate a bit) looking for the perfect balance of mushy love songs, silly dancing songs, and college memory songs.
The iPod was a hit and was also great entertainment for us.
