Reach the possible by being impossible05.11.08

“The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.” - Arthur C. Clarke

This quote pretty much sums up what has been going on in my life that has kept me from blogging (apologies by the way). I decided about a month ago that since I was committed to changing my financial standings I was not going to turn away any jobs/projects. Previously I’ve used the fact that I’m self employed as an excuse to pick and choose my clients. Then I decided it was ridiculous to turn away money. I decided I’d test out taking on as many projects as come my way. Consequently I’ve now hired sub contractors and my business has grown exponentially. I’m excited and I’m loving every minute of it. Really my only regret is that I’ve had zero time to devote to my lovely freaders here at GenPink.

I do plan on making time to get back to GenPink very shortly. In the mean time I post mini-posts fairly regularly on my tumblr - check the archives and find some of my favorite quotes, photos, and linkage from around the web.

I believe in pink04.12.08

i believe in pink

I have a question that I’m hoping someone might know the answer to. What is the copyright rules on reproducing quotes? For example. I found the above quote on someone’s facebook and I decided I liked it. I copied and pasted the quote into my beloved Adobe Illustrator and then made myself a pretty little graphic to put up on my blog. So here’s the question … would I be aloud to sell said little graphic (printed out in a frame perhaps)? Can you just reproduce any quote you feel like as long as you give credit? I see cute little framy things like this all the time at Target. I feel like I need a class on the legalities of graphic design. Perhaps some of you legalites can answer this question for me.

Opening Doors04.06.08

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us. - Helen Keller

If you’ve read my ABCs of Me you already know this about me:
“Q: Quotes - I absolutely love great quotes. In college I had my whole closet door covered in post it notes with fun quotes on them. I added some of my favorite random quotes on the side bar.”

For the most part I use my tumblr to collect and post various quotes that inspire/intrigue me but I decided Sunday would be a good time to share some quotables here.

Faith Hill on Happiness07.02.07

Another reason I love my DVR … rewinding to write down that great line that Faith Hill said on Oprah.

You wake up healthy .. and you wake up happy … and your family is safe, healthy and happy then everything else pales in comparison. - Faith Hill
