My name is Elysa and I am a creative snob. Well no not really, but I am definetly inclined to befriend creatives. I do know there are some people who, as they say, "don’t have a creative bone in thier body" but honestly I find that hard to believe. Either way, even those who don’t do art can still have an appreciation for art.

Being that I am a doer and an appreciator of art I have an affinity for discovering new (to me) artists on a regular basis. The internet makes this quite simple for me. Although there are several sites to discover new artists I love the simplicity of the website Artist of the Day. I like to start my mornings with some sort of visual inspiration, this website (well actually the feed) makes this quite simple for me.

On another note: I know there are several of you guys who are artists, you should submit your work and perhaps we will see you featured in the Artist of the Day feed. And when you become rich and famous remember the small people who helped you get there

Are you following me?

I’ve decided twitter is for ADD blog readers. Every time I open my google reader I cringe because I am so behind on all my blogs. Now that I have twitter though I feel like I get cliff notes of what’s going on in my freaders lives.

I will warn you by following me you’ll find out that I have a love affair with food. I spend a great part of my day eating or thinking about food.

Being a visual person I like to start my mornings with some sort of inspiration. I start most of my mornings with the visual blog 3191 | a year of mornings.

I don’t remember how I came across 3191 but I was drawn to their concept

3191 is a joint photography project.

we live 3191 miles apart as the car drives, not as the crow flies.
we take our photographs in the morning and do not discuss them beforehand.
we photograph M-F but don’t necessarily post every day.

My best friend lives in Boston so I thought this was such a cool way that these ladies take part in each other’s lives. I immediately added 3191 to the folder in my firefox that I open every morning. I love the juxtiposition and spontaniety of their photographs. I have been so surprised how often their photos go together knowing that they don’t discuss them before hand.

So for all of your photographers and photography lovers I recommend that you check out 3191.

My new favorite word - stalkerific. I stole it from Alyndabear.

I am the queen of a social networks. If someone wanted to stalk me it’d be fairly easy seeing as I am on almost every website that there ever was. And … I just made stalking me easier I put up a widget on my sidebar (thanks to Wink) of all of the places you can find me here, there and yonder. Wink is pretty fun because you can put all of your "places" on one site so that you can easily have everything together. *side note: speaking of stalker, someone named "Dude" has friend requested me all over the place and it kinda freaks me out - if you are reading this DUDE tell me who you are*

I have two recommendations for you guys:

Number 1 - Make yourself more Stalkerific

If you have profiles on many different sites get yourself on Wink and make your friends join so you can keep up with all of them in one place. *note if you are reading this then I am "making" you join*

Number 2 - Claim Your Blog

If you are a blogger (as in a person who blogs not necessarily a person who uses Google Blogger) there are 2 places you need to claim your blog - MyBlogLog & Technatori. There are many reasons that are written about all over the web, I could go into them but I’m not going to. I just say join because I said so! Hey and your cute little face will show up on my sidebar is that reason enough?

Once your join make me your friend, mmk! Got it?

Oh hey, one more thing … subscribe to my feed.

Having a rough day/week/month? Check out ComplimentBot 4000 a fun time-wasting website that will pay you as many compliments as you need. In theory you could sit at your computer and refresh the page all day. That would be one hundred and one, one hundred and ones, not one-O-ones. This is a list of 101 different 101 lists.

The real question should be why does step by step instructions (101) have to be the same as a list of one hundred and one things (101).

There is something about the 101 list that always grabs my attention. I thought it would be fun to see if I could find 101 different 101 lists.

I got an email today stating that effective July 1 there will be several new laws for Texas drivers. One in particular caught my attention (no cell phone use without a hands free device) because I am headed on a road trip this weekend. The news of this almost sent me straight to the cell phone (ugh!) store to get a headset. Yes, yes I know it’s bad that I don’t have a new one yet. It really is on my list. I am very picky, I am still weighing my options.

Lucky for me (and for you) I check out the validity of most of the information that comes my way. I Googled "Texas driving laws July 1" and came up with nothing, then I tried "new Texas driving laws" … still nothing.

At this point I was forced to browse around the Texas Department of Public Safety website. Now, I must tell you how exciting this site is. Watching paint dry comes to mind.

I am a very impatient person when it comes to finding things on the web. When I didn’t see any big flashing banners that said "hey NEW LAWS in effect in zero minus 2 days" I gave up on that website as well.

Now I’m not sure why this next move was my last resort, seeing as it is usually my first.

• Step 1: Highlight & Copy first full sentence of the email
• Step 2: Paste into Google
• Step 3: Trying not to be surprised that search result #2 is my beloved snopes.com

The whole point to this rambling is … if you get a stupid email that says there are new laws in Texas (or whatever state you live in) IT’S NOT TRUE.

I wonder what joy people get by making up ridiculous scams and sending them around? If you haven’t heard of snopes you MUST add it to your list of ‘must have’ websites. I can’t even begin to tell you how many seemingly legit emails that come through are remakes of some email that originated in Virginia in 1997.
