Fashionista's Guide to the Perfect New Car Pic + #NewCarFace Contest from Cars.com

Buying a car can be a monumentus occasion. If there were record books (outside of Instagram) it’d certainly be that type of occasion. I’ve had three cars so far in my car driving years. The first two I wasn’t part of the car shopping adventure. The third, and still my current car, was a very stress free time. I knew what type of car I wanted and I managed to find a great deal on it! In hindsight, my only complaint is the fact that I bought my car in October. The weather was PERFECT and well… the black leather seats didn’t prove to be a problem until the following March. I’ve had occasional burnt-bum summer incidents.  Leather seats or not, the purchase of a new car should warrant some excellent photo opps. And so…

Here are 8 Fashionista Tips for Snapping the Perfect New Car Pics:

  1. Coordinate your outfit with the color of your new car. (Because, there must be several yay new car photos!). My husband’s new car has red leather seats, and I’ve had a few occasions where my pink dresses clash with the lovely leather seats.
  2. Wear cute shoes. For the obligatory I’m so happy I have to kick my heels up photo.

  3. Speaking of photos, bring along a friend who can play photog.
  4. Also, charge your phone, because there must be at least one selfie.

  5. (optional) Buy your car in the evening so you can have an awesome sunset in your first photos! Photographers like to call this the “golden hour”.

  6. Put on a fresh face. Don’t you hate looking back on photos and thinking “man I forgot lipgloss.” Just me? Whatever fresh face is to you: powder your nose, add some color to your lips, put on another coat of mascara, or just grab some sunnies!
  7. Have fun with it! Be silly, jump around, take several shots. Maybe practice your new car face ahead of time.
  8. Most of all, don’t be grumpy. Because, hooray new car!
