Imagine a more racially diverse, fashionable Brady Bunch and you’ll be thinking of FYI Network’s new show, B.O.R.N. to Style. It’s a show with a cast of sassy fashionistas from different backgrounds with a spider web of connections to each other but one thing clearly is a common denominator among the group- “foptimism”. The only word I can use to describe what I see they all have in common is a mash-up new word I like to use that is a conjoining of fashion and optimism.

B.O.R.N. to Style, premieres Tuesday, 7/15 at 10pm EST on FYI Network and if you’ve ever wished to yourself that you had a personal stylist, then you won’t want to miss this show! The tagline is Your Makeover Needs a Makeover after all! A cast of 6 all started with the B.O.R.N. storeowner, Jonathan Bodrick, who concepted the borrowed, old, refurbished, new store using childhood fashion inspiration as his muse. This Harlem-based boutique is not your typical “all you need are new clothes to give yourself a makeover” type of place. Jonathan and his team want to bring out the fashion icon in their clients, not just hang some new designer labels in their closets.

As fate would have it, Jonathan has surrounded himself with an eclectic team that seems to only strengthen his mission. Bringing on his godson, Devin Stokes, as his assistant immediately shows what kind of loyalty Jonathan has for family & friends. I personally think this creates such an unspoken comfortability factor knowing that he wants to bring on his godson to the team. –

The right-hand man or self-proclaimed right-hand fabulous to Jonathan is JJ Langan. Developing a friendship with Jonathan over the past 13 years has brought nothing but inspiration and support to the B.O.R.N. brand. JJ is the visual artist of the group who likes to start styling each client by creating a ‘shrine of style.’ He believes that if the team can visualize the look, then they will be able to bring it all to life.

A thirteen-hour bus ride from Stantonsburg, NC brought the B.O.R.N. store manager and Jonathan’s life partner, Terry Artis to NYC. Pursuing a career in music and fashion was his dream and I’m loving the fact that he found the third piece to make his heart whole, Jonathan.

You can’t have a makeover without some cosmetic advice. Kristen Brown is an ambitious makeup artist with her very own line called Gold Label Cosmetics and she adds a little estrogen and lipstick advice to the B.O.R.N. to Style show cast.

Last, but definitely not least we have Brandon Hood. An adorable southern boy from Little Rock, Arkansas, Brandon happened to stumble upon the B.O.R.N. store and it was love at first Chanel. Enamored with Jonathan and his stylish boutique, Brandon has been able to fulfill his passion of helping people elevate their personal style but still has his sights set on styling red carpet looks for celebs & influencers. I think his personality is JUST big enough to stand out on the red carpet. I really think Brandon will be the standout cast member on this show and look forward to seeing more of his southern sass!

I’m looking forward to this show the most to help me rethink different styles that I already may have in my closet! I always feel like I get the best compliments when I can use most of what I already have and add to the look with just one or two small tweaks. After seeing the show trailer, I can tell that this group seems to really know what they are talking about when it comes to styling with the old while also letting me lust over their designer labels sometimes too!
