The Recession Attitude

I recently started following Tom Ziglar, son of Zig Ziglar, and I thought his post about job attitudes is certainly worth referencing.

Walking away from the counter I started to think. In this tough economy does any company have to employ somebody with a lousy attitude? I think not! As customers we should be getting the best service of our lives right now. If you work for a company, or own your own, think hard about this there is a long line of people who would love to have your job or work for you. Don’t settle for adequate competence and a bad attitude.

If you are hunting for a job right now and you have the good fortune of an interview, make sure you focus on both your competence and your attitude (you could even mention this post!), and how you are focused on solving their problems and their customers’ problems.

You can read his full post The Recession Attitude and I’d recommend subscribing to the feed.

  1. I completely agree! I can’t stand a co-worker with a bad attitude! They’re so miserable with their own lives that they end up bringing everybody down and it only takes one to ruin a complete work environment.

  2. As a teacher working on getting back into the swing of things this week, the week before the oh-so-important “first day of school”….I can relate to the fact it only takes one bad apple to rain on everyone’s parade! I don’t care what job a person has, morale controls everything!

  3. Shauna & Tanja: you guys are right all it takes is one person, fortunately that works in both directions. If you decide to be the one positive person you can make the shift in the other direction.

Tom: thanks for stopping by! I’m always looking for great resources I’m glad to have found you.

  4. I TOTALLY agree. I think about this with a lot of people’s employment. Do they really think they are safe? It’s a tough world out there with lots changing. You better be on top of everything, always learning, and hustling to get the job done every day.

Ultimately, I believe this will work out for the better – people will get better products/service not only because of the recession, but because of Social Media.
