Very well written and thought provoking. We are always advertising ourselves, especially in the 20something age category as we are trying to establish our place in the world. You never know when a contact can lead to something greater than originally anticipated, which dictates that you are always advertising your best.

To narrow down the million reasons why I’m hot haha: I am not only pretty, and one of the few women that can pull off boy-short hair, I am smart, hilarious, have many creative skills, the art teacher everyone in the school wants to be around, and a supportive friend, oh yes and how can I forget the ever important: I am highly clean and organized.:o)

Hopefully other twenty-somethings don’t get it because it’s an affront to humanity. Let there be some moment in your life that commercialism does not touch. Whether it’s metaphor or whether you believe it’s just the cruel reality that we are constantly selling ourselves, perpetuating that belief sucks the meaning from life.

Now would someone please help me off of my high horse?

This is so true, whether it’s on your blog, walking down the street, or just being on your own. I try to always maintain a positive tone on my blog, and in life as much as possible by actively Choosing Happiness in any given situation. And Choosing Happiness is why I’m hot!

I agree with your thesis on self-promotion. If you have any intention to use your blog as a tool for branding yourself and creating a positive image for employers and clients, then it makes no sense to talk about your problems all the time. That would be more appropriate for a support group.

Not that I’m opposed to an occasional weakness-revealing post. . . as long as you are telling about a lesson you’ve learned and explaining to others how to avoid the same traps.

Oh, and you wanna know why I’m hot? Because I’ve been mowing grass in sunny 90 degree weather. :)
