What’s the Deal?

Posted in Shopping on May 07, 2007

A friend sent me the link to a cute site last week and I was looking through the archives of her daily posts and this cute illustration along with her comments gave me an idea for a topic. Joanna wrote "Mom’s Day is Sunday, May 13th. Your mom would’t wait ‘til last minute, and you shouldn’t either!"

Today’s topic is last minute deal shopping. Once you know how many deal sites there are out there I find it hard to pay full price for anything. There is a downfall, however, of constantly checking these deal sites. I find myself tempted to buy things I don’t necessarily need, just because it is a such a great deal. If you can resist the temptation to buy everything because its on sale you can really save yourself some money.

Here are my recommendation for finding a great deal for a last minute gift for mom. I will tell you, these deals don’t last long so if you find something I’d recommend acting fast.

  • her dealnews : dealnews has several sites with deals, since we are focusing on moms I am recommending this one specifically. Feel free to check out their sister sites.
  • Dealighted: This site has deals, coupons and free samples. They bring in deals from a few different sites and are constantly updating.
  • hot-deals: Though this site is not much to look at this is a good resource to find last minute bargains, most of their deals are computer/technology related
  • Secret Amazon Deals: the name is pretty self explanatory. Since only 1 deal is listed at a time its a little more difficult if you have something specific in mind.
  • Dealunion: If you like to shop from familiar stores this site will let you know what specials your favorite store is running.
  • The Underground Shopper: If you happen to be in DFW area or Houston this site has great deals.
  • Overstock: Last but certainly not least, Overstock is a great place to go if you know what you want to get but haven’t found the best price on it.

Happy Bargain Shopping!

The Secret Amazon Deals website you list above has been changed to http://www.secretonlinedeals.com due to copyright issues. Visit Secret Amazon Deals for the latest. In addition, we now have an html version of the newsletter with pictures that make it very easy to see the bargains.
