You are what you Believe

Yesterday I was watching Oprah that I had recorded on my DVR from Friday (I don’t know how people live without these babies). The episode was about self image and developing confidence in yourself. She ended the program with an interesting thought and a new challenge. Oprah challenged her viewers to join her O Girl, O Beautiful Revolution.

You really don’t become what you want … you become what you believe. So the real key is focusing on what you really like about yourself. When you focus on what you like, you begin to like more things. - Oprah

I believe the indeeded target for her Revolution is teenage girls, but I think the idea is perfect for men and women of all ages. The first step to joining the O Girl, O Beautiful Revolution is to download and sign the contract.

The contract is a promise to yourself …

I am smart. I am beautiful. I am unique. I love who I am, and I pledge each day to write down at least one thing about myself that makes me special. I believe and affirm that I will always appreciate myself for the many things, inside and out, that make me beautiful.

I love the whole concept behind this and I plan on joining in. I was thinking I might even turn this into a design project later down the road. For now, I will start writing one new thing every day in a journal. I just got a cute journal as a gift that will be perfect for this.

I think that’s an amazing and FUN addition to my already worthwhile and fulfilling journal entries that Oprah inspired me to do a gazillion years ago… which is: Write down as many things you can think of, EVERY DAY, of things you are grateful for. It’s called your gratitude journal. But, I also write down small, priceless memories, compliments, sincere words, and people in there. Ah, Oprah… with her yo-yo dieting and some wacky episodes….gotta love her!

I don’t watch Oprah much but she is inspirational. I love this concept and have printed out the contract, signed it and it is hanging on my wall. I plan on writing my one special trait each day on my blog, . I haven’t been writing any posts on that blog recently but this project gives me a daily post if nothing else. Thanks.
