18 things we’re looking forward to in 2018

With 2017 coming to an end, it’s time to look forward to the new year. In no particular order, here’s a roundup list by our Genpink contributors of positive and exciting things that 2018 has in store.

On January 31, the world will see the next Total Lunar Eclipse. The moon will be totally red (hence the name blood moon). According to space.com, a Blue Moon and a supermoon will also be seen around the same time in January.

The 2018 Winter Olympics

The winter games are just around the corner, and we can’t wait for all the fun! Here’s a look at confirmed Team USA athletes and a few hopefuls trying to nab a spot.

The Royal Wedding

Eeeeeeek Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting married in May! I’m already planning the watch party (5/19) with my friends because why not.

Jason Momoa coming to Fan Expo Dallas

Fan Expo Dallas is one of our favorite nerdy conferences to attend each year, and the 2018 event heats up with an appearance by Aquaman Jason Momoa. Fan Expo will take place at the Dallas Convention Center from April 6-8, 2018.

LOTS of new movies

The trailers for a few movies have got me dying to see these flicks. “Black Panther” springs in action in February, while the thriller “Annihilation” also debuts during the same month. For more of a love story, see “Fifty Shades Freed” releasing right before Valentine’s Day.

In May, some of my favorite super heroes will show up once in “Avengers: Infinity War.” Keep the Star Wars frenzy going in May with “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”

Chris Pratt is back in the next installment of “Jurassic World” with “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” coming in June. Also in June, we’ll get to see “Deadpool 2” and a girl power crew in “Ocean’s 8.” Paul Rudd is back in “Ant-Man and the Wasp” in July.

New Sci-Fi films continue in November with “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.” For a more family-friendly selection, check out “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” also coming out in November.

Sing along with the cast of “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” in July. Take the family in December to “Mary Poppins Returns” but leave the little kids behind to see “Aquaman” in the same month.

The Reputation Tour

We cannot wait for the Taylor Swift#Reputation tour!! Thanks to my boost points, I have great tickets in my hands and excited to see her in Dallas this October. #AreYouReadyForIt….

And more concerts…

It’s going to be a big year of performances, especially in Dallas. I’m looking forward to seeing Katy Perry in January, Harry Styles in June, the rescheduled Shakira concert in October and more.

A handful of new beauty trends are making their way through for 2018. For one, facial masks are branching out to body masks. We’ll also see more eco-friendly packages, gender neutral beauty products and active beauty buys.

Release of our friends Ryan and Scott’s book SuperConnector

#Superconnector was listed as one of the “business books everyone will be reading in 2018” by Business Insider. It’s available for pre-order now, and will be available on February 27th!

“STOP NETWORKING. Seriously, stop doing it. Now. It is time to ditch the old networking-for networking’s-sake mentality in favor of a more powerful and effective approach to creating and enhancing connections. In Superconnector, Scott Gerber and Ryan Paugh reveal a new category of professionals born out of the social media era: highly valuable community-builders who make things happen through their keen understanding and utilization of social capital. Superconnectors understand the power of relationship-building, problem-solve by connecting the dots at high levels, and purposefully cause different worlds and communities to interact with the intention of creating mutual value”

A new year is great time to plan new explorations. For me, I’m chatting with a few friends to explore some bucket list countries in Europe that I haven’t experienced, such as Spain. Where are you thinking about traveling to this year?
