Last week, country superstar Miranda Lambert played an energizing show at the American Airlines Center (AAC) in Dallas. The spunky Lambert calls Dallas her hometown, and you could tell how excited she was to play at the AAC for the very first time. The fans were just as excited, too! Lambert rocked her cowgirl boots, tasteful ripped jeans, a beautiful glitter top, as well as a short hairdo, which she pulled off nicely.

Texas girl Sunny Sweeney and chart-topper Justin Moore opened up for Lambert. Both played a great a show and got me in the honkey tonk mood for the rest of the night. As they openers sang, I became too eager to see Lambert. I got even more excited when a local country music station tweeted that Blake Shelton was rumored to be backstage…

Lambert kicked off her set with a few of her classic, upbeat songs (like my favorite, “Kerosene”) and then worked in her tunes from the new Platinum album. The crowd was loving every minute it. And, the rumors were right – Shelton made his way on stage during the middle of the set. Surprise!! The couple sang one of Shelton’s songs together, and I’m sure the audience remembered that Shelton and Lambert’s chemistry and charisma is why they are THE hottest country couple.

(Note: My other favorite country singer Carrie Underwood was not around to sing “Something Bad” with Lambert. Bummer.)

Lambert concluded the hour-and-a-half set with a couple more of her songs from back in the day, like “White Liar.” Sweeney and Lambert’s backup joined Lambert to sing the popular Dixie Chicks song, “Cowboy Take Me Away” as the encore. This presentation was a perfect ending to a perfect night.

Here are some tips to keep in mind next time you go to a concert:

Carpool or call a car service: Parking is always hectic to deal with, especially when you’re headed to a sold-out show. Call Uber, Lyft, a cab or another service to save you the stress from traffic. Uber lets you split the fare with your friends who have the app, so it’s affordable and easy to manage.

Wear comfortable clothes: Sure, concerts are a great reason to dress cute, but remember to wear comfortable shoes because you may end up being on your feet for hours. Also, bring a cardigan or a light sweater in case the venue is cold. With thousands of people at the AAC for Lambert’s show, the air conditioning was on full blast, so my cardigan kept me from getting goosebumps.

Bring some cash: It doesn’t hurt to have some cash in your purse. You never when you need a few extra bucks – whether it’s for a cab, splitting your meal with a friend or buying a concert t-shirt from those random guys outside of the stadium. (lol)

Only bring the necessities: I brought a small purse with just a few items that I absolutely needed for the concert: chapstick, wallet, phone and a compact mirror. A cross-over purse is ideal if you have one.

Charge your phone 100% before the show: My phone’s battery quickly drained at the show since I was using it to take photos and film my favorite Lambert songs. Also, being connected to the free wifi at the AAC drained my battery some more. Luckily I still had some juice left to call an Uber after the concert! (Have a portable charger? It may help to bring it, too.)
