Naked for November because Content is King

November 1st marks the beginning of National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo), which for those of you who don’t know is a tradition for bloggers to commit to posting everyday for the month of November. I have found having a theme or a series helps me to create multiple days in a row. I had a great success with the ABCs of Gen Y series, if you haven’t seen it you should check it out.

So for November 2008 I will be posting no fluff, naked responses to the rumors and media about Gen Y. I turned off my pink theme to signify going naked for November – starting with a blank slate and an open mind. Granted everyone has their own perspective so just to be clear my responses will be coming from my angle of – 20 something, single, southern, business woman.

A great philosopher (okay my mother) once said it’s always best to start with the end in mind. So, my end goal for the month of November is to learn more about my generation (and probably myself) by checking out what others are saying about us. On December 1st I will launch my new look to GenPink based on my survey & my findings in the next month.

My starting point for research on this topic will be subscribing to two tags on del.ico.us – gen-y & geny. If you have any great debates or research on Gen Y that’s you’d like my response to leave a link in the comments.

So just to be clear, everyday (including weekends) I will be posting something about Gen Y – either something new I learned or my response to something I found. I’d love help in the investigation process or to have this turn into a 20sb community project.

  1. Hi Elysa,

Just wanted to say that I’ve started reading your blog. I’m wondering if you have heard about the book, “What Men Don’t Tell Women About Business”. I heard the guy (Chris Flett) on the Today Show and thought you probably have already heard of him. I’m wondering what your thoughts were. He seems to be really taking on the ‘Old Boys Club”. I just emailed him, but haven’t heard back.

Anyway, keep up the great writing.

    Best,

    Bihter.

  2. Hi Elysa,

I’ve been doing some additional research on the author, Chris Flett, that I talked about on my last comment. His company is “GhostCEO” (www.GhostCEO.com) and his book is a bestseller. I found it on Amazon here. Anyway, he was in the NY Times last Sunday under the “Career Couch” and he makes reference to women’s blogs like yours so I thought you might like to connect. I’d like to see you interview him and see what he’s all about. I saw on another blog he was a guest blogger. His email is: chris@ghostceo.com

    Best wishes,

    Bihter.
