New Yorkers are becoming calorie conscious

Today I learned …

the Big Apple became the first city in the country to implement a law forcing chain restaurants to post the calorie count of each food in the same size and font as the price.

In the past week I’ve moved so I’ve been learning about getting rid of items I no longer need, packing, unpacking and all those kind of fun things.

I’ve been learning something new every day in the month of July! Have you learned anything fun/random lately?

  1. I had heard about that. Apparently smaller chains are pretty upset with the ruling because it’s going to cost them some pretty big bucks to have their food tested for calories. I guess we’ll see how it goes.

  2. I think I like this idea. Learning that a Dunkin’ Donuts muffin is WAY worse for you than a donut. Who knew?!

    Loving this blog!!!

  3. Chalk it up to the space constraints in a crowded urban area. There just isn’t room for all the space people would require if they grew to the same proportions that people do in less crowded areas. Hence the mandatory calorie watching.

    Just kidding . . .

  4. I learned that not going to the dentist every six months is even worse for your health then I thought, especially if you are trying to get pregnant or are pregnant. Periodontis (spelling?)disease which is not spotted by us regular people can cause BIRTH DEFECTS in babies. It doesn’t matter if you have great teeth or whatever, your teeth can change in a span of three months, causing a cavity or worse.
GO to the dentist! They’re not scary!
